Domestic Adoptee Solidarity (국내입양인연대)
While there have been groups and organizations of overseas adoptees since 1986, the first group of domestically adopted persons (Koreans adopting Koreans) in South Korea came together in 2019 to form Domestic Adoptee Solidarity In 2020, Domestic Adoptee Solidarity produced a video series of interviews with adoptees of different ages. Their hope for the video series is to give support and encouragement to fellow adoptees.
To create more understanding between the overseas adoptee and domestic adoptee communities, IbyangIN is partnering with Domestic Adoptee Solidarity by raising money and translating the series in English, and eventually other languages. Please help strengthen this connection between our communities by making a donation to translate the remaining 4 videos. “Domestic Adoptee Solidarity is engaged in activities to establish the rights and identity of adoptees and to spread awareness of adoption. We provide guidance/support for finding biological families through the Missing Child Search Center of the National Police Agency, and guidance/support for finding biological families through DNA sample collection.” |

Quotes from Min Young ChanWHY make these videos?
I was thinking about how to resolve the prejudices cast on adoption and adoptees, and I thought that it would be good to directly convey the experiences of the adoptees through the voices of the adoptees. WHAT you hope to achieve
I hope that the adoptive family and prospective adoptive parents can fully empathize with the feelings the adoptee feels or will feel by hearing the experiences of adoptees by generation directly through the voices of the parties involved. Through this process, I hope you understand that adoption does not end with practicing adoption, but has a profound impact on the adoptee's entire life. Vertical Divider
